Is Topgolf Helping or Hurting

According to some, Topgolf is not cannibalizing the golf industry, rather it’s widening the market by engaging the millennial generation who think the game is expensive and restrictive. A recent article in Club and Resort Business Magazine says that Topgolf’s popularity is good news for the golf industry and demonstrates that the game needs to continue to evolve.

Topgolf, a nightclub-meets-bowling alley-meets-driving range experience, incorporates friendly competition, social interaction, food and beverage and golf in a fun and upbeat environment. Topgolf facilities are popping up across the country as demand increases.

Clubs that have adopted the Topgolf approach to golf (encouraging the social aspects, incorporating food and beverage and relaxing the dress code and rules) have found success in engaging new players, younger generations and those that typically wouldn’t feel comfortable picking up a club and heading to the course.
